How to take care of Acanthus White Lips

Acanthus White Lips can be invasive, so either plant Acanthus White Lips in large containers or in a permanent place at the back of the border. Acanthus White Lips dislike being disturbed. Young plants need extra phosphorus to encourage good root development.

Plant Acanthus White Lips in a well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Acanthus White Lips are hardy but the crowns need mulch for the first two winters. Cut back to nearly ground level once the flowering season is over.

Acanthus White Lips often take two - three years to bloom. Divide Acanthus White Lips after 3 -5 blooming seasons in either spring or autumn. The easiest way to increase your plants is by taking cuttings in late autumn and early winter.

Acanthus White Lips will fail to grow if your soil is too heavy and has poor drainage. All Acanthus White Lips tend to perform unevenly, even when grown in full sun. Snails and slugs can do substantial damage if left unchecked.
