Acer palmatum Crimson Queen (dissected type) is a popular dwarf, deciduous tree with a cascading branching and a weeping habit known for the way it retains its excellent leaf colour throughout the growing season before dropping in autumn.

 

It opens up with beautiful bright red foliage during spring. The foliage turns crimson red in autumn.

 

It’s faster growing than most Acer dissectum varieties, making it a fantastic specimen to create a focal point in your garden!

How to take care of Palmatum Crimson Queen

Water well upon receipt of the Palmatum Crimson Queen. Require a neutral to acidic soil. Plant Palmatum Crimson Queenin light shady sheltered location as it needs protection from cold winds and hot morning sun, which damage the leaves.

Best position is somewhere you can see the sun shining through the leaves.

Prepare planting site with 50% potting compost and 50% top soil, plant Palmatum Crimson Queenso that the root ball is just below the surface and water well for the next few weeks.

Apply a top dressing of organic fertiliser during early spring but not at the time of planting wait for about 6 weeks before applying fertiliser for the first time.

Give the young trees support by means of a cane.

Never let the roots dry out. Pruning is not necessary but you can cut out dead wood in spring.
