How to take care of Blue Fortune

Blue Fortune requires good drainage. Blue Fortune will perform poorly and may not survive winter in hard clay soils that retain moisture. Blue Fortune tolerate heat and some dry soils once established.

Provide full sun to light shade and dry to medium soil. Newly planted Blue Fortune need winter protection. Mulches will not only protect Blue Fortune but help to avoid onset of rot.

Removing faded blooms as they fade will help to prolong the flowering time.

Crown/root rot may develop in poorly drained soils. Watch for rust, powdery mildew and leaf spots.

Cut back stems close to ground level from late February through to the end of March.
