Cotoneaster horizontalis
Cotoneaster horizontalis is a small, spreading, deciduous hardy shrub that has something to offer in every season. In spring it has glossy dark green leaves, tiny, pinkish-white flowers in early summer which are followed by scarlet red autumn berries. The leaves turn orange-red before they fall in winter.
Its has a superb structure, that the branches sweep out gracefully in a horizontal manner, hence its name. It works as an excellent groundcover for a sunny border or up against a wall for a spectacular display.

For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting, water well after planting and for the next few weeks until root system is established. Grows best in a well drained soil with low lime content.
Likes a sunny location. No pruning necessary but to keep the size of the plant in shape and to encourage the most colourful bark, remove a third of the stems back to ground level each spring to make bushier.
Fertilise in the growing season only.
