What does pH stand for?

The term pH is derived from “p,” the mathematical symbol for negative logarithm, and “H,” the chemical symbol for Hydrogen.

Different plants will thrive in different soils, by using one our our pH meters you can determine what plants will flourish in garden quickly if the conditions are right.

Most plants prefer a pH of 6.5 to 7.

If you plant an acid-loving plant in alkaline soil and it will suffer and eventually die, and vice versa.

Rhododendrons, camellias and heathers are just some of the plants that will thrive in acidic conditions.

Blueberries and saxifragas are some plants that prefer soil that is slightly alkaline.

Asters, irises and daffodils are some plants that will thrive in neutral soil.
