Shovel and Spade: What’s the Difference?

Many people think they are the same but there is differences between the two. A spade has a rounded edge and is mainly used for digging, breaking up, and turning soil, whereas a shovel has a flat and more square shape and can be used for slicing through soil and roots, moving soil and loose materials

Shorter handles provide better control and is more often used for planting or digging up bulbs.

A longer handle provides better leverage and is useful for heavier tasks.
