Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' (non-dissected type) is one of the best purple-leaved maples around. It’s a slow growing, upright rounded and bushy deciduous tree, grown for its attractive foliage. The young green leaves change over time and turn deep reddish-purple in summer and scarlet in autumn. Great specimen, ideal for a freestanding location!

How to take care of Acer Palmatum Bloodgood
Water well upon receipt of the Acer Palmatum Bloodgood. Require a neutral to acidic soil. Plant Acer Palmatum Bloodgoodin light shady sheltered location as it needs protection from cold winds and hot morning sun, which damage the leaves. Best position is somewhere you can see the sun shining through the leaves. Prepare planting site with 50% potting compost and 50% top soil, plant Acer Palmatum Bloodgoodso that the root ball is just below the surface and water well for the next few weeks. Apply a top dressing of organic fertiliser during early spring but not at the time of planting wait for about 6 weeks before applying fertiliser for the first time. Give the young trees support by means of a cane. Never let the roots dry out. Pruning is not necessary but you can cut out dead wood in spring.
