Summer flowering Crested Gentian- the queen of all known alpine plants is a low-growing herbaceous perennial with trailing stems of mid green leaves and masses of royal-blue, trumpet-shaped flowers in summer. A fantastic ground cover variety that maintains a neat, compact appearance even whilst flowering. It’s easier to grow, and less likely to sprawl than other Gentiana varieties. Perfect for planting in the rockery or woodland garden, or at the front of borders or raised beds where you can enjoy its beauty.

How to take care of Gentiana sino- Ornata P13
Grow in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil. Suitable for the front of borders. Performs best in sunny conditions . The leaf mould or similar organic material will help retain moisture around the roots in summer. No pruning required. Prone to root rot, slugs, snails and aphids. Because this gentian is not always long-lived, propagate by seed or division of offsets in spring. Great care has to be taken not to damage the roots of seedlings when they are pricked out, which should be done when they are still very small. If successfully transplanted, any seedling will flower the spring after germination. Cuttings can also be taken in early summer, if a shoot can be found that has not flowered, but it is not wise to try to divide the plant because it dislikes root disturbance so much.
