How to take care of Pear Tree Conference 150

Plant in well drained neutral soil, newly planted trees need to be well watered. Keep the area around the base of the tree free from weeds as they will compete for nutrients. Stake trees grown in open exposed areas.

Once established, thin fruit if the crop is very heavy. Wait until the tree has shed some fruit itself in mid summer. Remove any very small or mis-shapen fruit leaving 10-15 cm between remaining apples to give them space.

Check regularly for signs of disease. Remove any of the infected shoots, leaves and branches to allow light and air into the tree. Remove any fallen leaves and fruit from around the base of the tree regularly to prevent disease.

Mildew on leaves can indicate that the tree needs water. Once established each April apply a thich layer of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the tree do not pile it up against the trunk.

Remove unwanted branches during winter. This tree is self-pollinating.
