How to take care of Spitfire
Spitfire can be invasive, so either plant Spitfire in large containers or in a permanent place at the back of the border. Spitfire dislike being disturbed. Young plants need extra phosphorus to encourage good root development.
Plant Spitfire in a well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Spitfire are hardy but the crowns need mulch for the first two winters. Cut back to nearly ground level once the flowering season is over.
Spitfire often take two - three years to bloom. Divide Spitfire after 3 -5 blooming seasons in either spring or autumn. The easiest way to increase your plants is by taking cuttings in late autumn and early winter.
Spitfire will fail to grow if your soil is too heavy and has poor drainage. All Spitfire tend to perform unevenly, even when grown in full sun. Snails and slugs can do substantial damage if left unchecked.
