Some of these plants can root rather deep, enabling them to reach the water table down below. Some have distinctive characteristics, such as silver or grey foliage to reflect the suns harsh rays. Even drought tolerant plants need to be watered well for their first few months in the soil, until the roots are established.

In order to help the soil to buffer water, add a generous amount of compost to the soil during early spring and a thick mulch of e.g. old leaves in autumn. Organic matter helps to preserve moisture in the soil.

Our drought tolerant plants include many favourites such as Cordyline, Lavenders, Sedums, Echinops and Geraniums to name but a few.
