How to take care of Variegata Bamboo
For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. Choose a sunny position with a little shelter in cold, exposed or coastal areas.
Although this variety remains one of the very best to grow in semi-shade too. Prepare the planting hole well before planting by mixing in plenty of organic matter (well rotted) and fertiliser. Water well during the first summer until the root system is established.
When you have an established bamboo it will need little care. Tip: cut old stems back to the ground each spring before new growth appears, keeping it fresh - older stems can look leggy and scruffy. In cold climates best to mulch in winter.
