How to take care of Ceanothus Lemon Ice

For best results soak the roots for approx. 2 hrs. before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks until the roots become established. Choose a shelter sunny position, preferable against a south or west-facing wall.

Applying a general balanced fertilizer in spring after pruning will encourage new growth. When planted in exposed situations Ceanothus Lemon Ice can be affected by wind and frost injury. If this happens just prune back any frost damaged stems to healthy wood.

Avoid excess moisture levels as they can damage the roots which leads to poor growth. If Ceanothus Lemon Ice is planted too shallow on chalky soils Ceanothus Lemon Ice can suffer from yellowing of the leaves between the veins (chlorosis).

Ceanothus Lemon Iceis also vulnerable to honey fungus and scale insect attack. Little pruning is required for evergreen varieties, but if you need to prune, then do this in winter or early spring. Propagate deciduous Ceanothus Lemon Ice shrubs from softwood cuttings from late spring to mid-summer.
