Planting soil: any reasonable well-drained garden soil, little growth in the first year. Prune young shrubs hard in late spring and apply a generous layer of well-rotted manure around the base of the plant.

Once established little pruning is necessary remove dead or diseased branches in late winter or early spring in cold areas protect from frost with a layer of mulch. During harsh winters you may need to bring pot grown trees indoors to an unheated room until it warms up.
