How to take care of Scabiosa caucasica alba x 5
All scabious prefer well-drained non-acid soil and a sunny position. They dislike cold, wet winters. A top dressing of grit in October will aid surface drainage. They dislike hot, humid weather and do best in temperate conditions. Deadheading encourages plants to flower on and on. Seeds can be collected in autumn, dried and sown the following spring without losing viability. Keep watch for slugs in the spring. The flowers last a long time in water as a cut flower and are excellent as dried flowers. Clumps may be divided every 2 to 3 years in early spring.
