Monstera houseplants are also known as Swiss cheese plants because of their distinctive holes in their leaves that resemble those of Swiss cheese. Monstera deliciosa is a plant that comes from tropical rainforests. This houseplant has been popular for years with its impressively large shaped leaves. The Monstera prefers a light spot in the (semi) shade. Keep the soil slightly moist in spring and summer, feel the soil well before watering in winter.

Monstera delicosa or the Swiss Cheese Plant
Did you know that the holes in the leaves have a function, it helps protect them against strong gusts of wind during tropical rain storms. Another fun fact is that no extra holes are added during growth. The leaf remains as it was born. It is actually a creeping creeper.
Taking care of your Monstera Delicosa
You don't need green fingers to enjoy the monstera delicosa. It is therefore also one of the most popular houseplants. Place the houseplant in a bright location, preferably out of direct sunlight and the plant will grow well and reach a nice height. Wipe the tropical plant's leaves with a damp cloth. The Monstera is not a thirsty plant, make sure that the soil remains slightly moist in spring and summer without the roots of the plant standing in a layer of water. He is absolutely not a fan of wet feet. As with all houseplants, it is advisable to turn the monstera every now and then, so that it does not grow towards the light on one side.
