How to take care of Clematis Combo in White and Purple x 2
Soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting, water well after planting and for the next few weeks. Plant Clematis in a sunny to semi shady position, the base of the plant must always remain in the shade. Dig a hole twice the width of the container and deep enough so the top of the rootball sits 5cm lower than the level of the soil approx 40cm away from the fence, wall or trellis. Fertilise with organic fertiliser around the base of the plant once every spring. Large flowering types can be trimmed in February as they will flower on new shoots. Small flowering types such as Montana must be trimmed direct after they have flowered as they flower next year on this years shoots. In general prune spring flowering clematis immediately after flowering and summer flowering ones in early spring. Nelly Moser is an early flowering clematis and can be pruned to 1 meter above the ground and Jackmanni is late flowering and can be cut down to ground level in February or March.
Clematis can be quite fussy-soil must be fertile and moist for best results.
