How to take care of Rhododendron Silver Sixpence
For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. Grown mainly for their beautiful small mass of flowers. Use a humus rich well-drained acidy soil. Can be planted in either sun or shade. Shallow planting is important, so 10-15 cm deep is sufficient. Water in dry weather especially in their first season and apply a thin layer of mulch. The plant needs time to establish themselves so if transplanting, do it in autumn. Remove dead flower heads regularly to encourage new and bushy growth and trim back after flowering. Remember planting too deep can stunt growth!
Acid soil is essential, in Limey soils the leaves will turn yellow.
