Commonly known as ‘Judas tree’, this deciduous tree is prized for it’s pretty, pinkish-purple flowers displayed on bare branches in spring. The heart shaped leaves appear shortly after the first flowers emerge. It is drought tolerant, prefering deep, fertile, well-drained soils and a sunny sheltered position.

How to take care of Cercis siliquastrum
This slow growing tree does well in acid or lime rich soil. Plant in a sunny sheltered position in well drained soil. Pruning is not necessary but if desired trees can be cut back hard in winter or lightly trimmed after flowering. Mulch every couple of years to feed.
