Jackmanii is one of the most popular large flowering varieties, this rapid climber produces large purple blue, velvety flowers on lush green foliage mid spring to late summer, it's extremely vigorous.
This variety belongs to the Viticella Group, Prune Group 3, it blooms in late summer/autumn so you can prune it hard in early spring. All shoots can be pruned right back to the previous years wood just above the plants base.

How to take care of Clematis Jackmanii
Soak your plants as soon as they arrive. Plant this Clematis so that the crown is level with the surface of the soil, in well drained soil, add a generous amount of grit to the bottom of the hole when planting and make sure that the roots are always shaded. Grow against a strong trellis or support. This variety belong to pruning group 3 this means it should be pruned hard in late winter or early spring. All shoots can be pruned right back to the previous years wood just above the plants base.
Clematis can be quite fussy-soil must be fertile and moist for best results.
