Oenothera macrocarpa also known as evening primrose or sundrops has won awards for its outstanding garden performance.
It’s a low maintenance herbaceous perennial producing masses of bright-golden flowers with trailing leafy stems which appear from late spring to early autumn. And as the name suggests they only open late afternoon when the sun has set.
An excellent drought tolerant ground-cover suitable for planting in raised beds and rock gardens.

How to take care of Oenothera macrocarpa
Plant Oenothera macrocarpa in light or loamy well-drained soil. Oenothera macrocarpa will thrive when planted in a full sun position. For best results mulch around the stems in spring. Water during dry spells in and summer and cut the stems down to ground level after flowering to prevent them from producing seeds. Divide clumps every few years in spring.
